CAMP WILLIAMS — A military facility has been named to honor a fallen Utah soldier.

The Utah Army National Guard’s Camp Williams Readiness Center was renamed the Scott B. Lundell Readiness Center in a formal ceremony Saturday at Camp Williams.

Lundell, a West Valley City resident, died in Afghanistan in 2006 after his dismounted patrol was engaged by enemy forces. He was a member of the Utah Army Guard’s I Corps Artillery Forward, which was sent overseas to provide training and support to members of the Afghan National Army.

In 2008, I Corps Artillery was reorganized and renamed the 65th Fires Brigade, which oversaw Saturday’s event.
