Lola Ann Johnson1/9/1930 ~ 8/26/2013Fairview/Payson, UTLola Ann Heaps Johnson, 83, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister passed away surrounded by her children on August 26, 2013. Lola was born January 9, 1930, in Los Angeles, CA, to Rulon Albert Heaps and Lola Fern Coolbear Heaps. Lola was raised and received her early education in Whittier. CA, and graduated from Whittier Union High School. She married the love of her life, Harold Riley Johnson, May 20, 1950, in the St. George Temple. They raised their children as a loving and devoted family, be it in California, Samoa or Utah. Many across the face of the earth knew and respected her. She followed her husband in his professional life as an educator from Southern California to Pesega, Western Samoa, Orem, UT, Sanpete County, UT and Tunis, Tunisia. Lola served in the Primary and Relief Society of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Manti Temple as a Temple Worker and Assistant Matron. She and her husband also served as the President and Matron of the Apia Samoa Temple. She was a member of Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and served on the Board of Fairview Museum of History and Art. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joys. She enjoyed crocheting afghans for family and friends, crossword puzzles, collecting Christmas nativity scenes, watching the hummingbirds, Sunday dinners and Family Home Evenings with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was proud of her pioneer heritage and made family history books for her children. She loved serving in the Temple with her husband and had a strong testimony of the gospel. Lola is survived by her children, Marcia (Randy) Pyne, Michael (Janey) Johnson, Catherine (Chris) Holt and David (Kelly) Johnson, 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Brother, Dan (Carole ) Heaps, Brother-in-law, Ralph (Nancy) Johnson, Sisters-in-law, Betty Johnson, Margaret Johnson and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold R. Johnson, her parents and brothers-in-law LeGrande Johnson and Kenneth Johnson. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August, 31, 2013, at the Sharon Stake Center, 545 South 800 East, Orem, UT. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to services. Interment will follow later at the Orem City Cemetery under the direction of Rasmussen Mortuary.
