LINDON — City voters in November will face the question of whether to increase a tax to fund recreational facilities.
The Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Culture tax would increase Lindon sales and use tax by 0.1 percent and go toward recreational and cultural facilities and cultural organizations within the city. The mayor and City Council approved a resolution to place the question on the Nov. 5 election ballot.
If approved, the tax will begin to be collected in April 2014.
A majority of voters will need to vote in favor of the issue for the tax to be approved. The tax revenue will primarily be used for funding of recreational and cultural facilities owned by the city, and potentially used as grant funding of other nonprofit cultural organizations with a heavy presence in Lindon.
