Chance Dillon Slaymaker, #3 Nov. 16, 1998 ~ Aug. 1, 2013Born November 16, 1998 in Murray, Utah to Kim and Troy Slaymaker, Chance grew up in Riverton, Utah with his older siblings Travis and Shayla. At 14 years old, Chance tragically left this world on August 1, 2013. As a student at Oquirrh Hills Middle School, Chance went through his life enjoying everything from the monumental to the mundane. His favorite things included going hunting and fishing, competing in baseball tournaments across the country, archery, Zelda, and taking care of the friends and family that surrounded him. He also found joy in the small things like playing video games, reading, jumping on the trampoline, drawing his friends, eating the big kahuna sno cone and making fires out of anything. Chance loved microwave popcorn, especially the extra butter stuck to the bag after all the popcorn was gone. He loved animals of all types and sizes, especially his ball python Slinky. His dream was to one day become a veterinarian. In his life, Chance brought joy to everyone around him. His contagious smile and vivacious personality had a way of uniting people and bringing them out of their shells. No matter what situation he was in, he made those around him feel and know that he was their friend and that they belonged. His ability to make people laugh was one of his greatest attributes. He always had a way of lifting those around him no matter how difficult of a time they were having. Chance had a unique ability to know what people needed and to reach out before they realized they needed his help. His constant hugs, love, smile, laughter, and stories will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. His family misses the baby boy who held them together more than words can express, and his passing has left a giant void in their hearts that can never be filled until the day they can see and hold him again. His viewing will be held at Broomhead Funeral Home Friday, August 9 from 5-8 PM. The funeral will be August 10 at 11 AM at the Riverton Central Stake Center located at 12852 South 3200 West.Chance is survived by his mother and father, Kim and Troy, his siblings, Travis and Shayla, his grandparents Carol and Alvin Slaymaker, Neils Peterson, and Noma and Dan Noorda, along with great-grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends and teammates who loved him.
