HERSHEY, Pa. — Jaslyn Gardner of Enterprise, Utah, won the girls 100-meter dash at the Hershey's Track and Field North American Final on Saturday.

The 13-year-old's win in the 13- to 14-year-old girls race was the top performance of 13 Utah athletes competing in divisions of ages 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14. To qualify for the meet, the competitors won state and regional meets.

William Prettyman, 12, of Salt Lake City, and Heidi Samsion, 10, of Springville, both placed second in their races (100 meters and 400 meters, respectively). Taylan Whitehead, 10, of Santa Clara, took third in the 50-meter dash while Utah's youngest participant, Ethan Peterson, 9, of Farmington, took third in the 400 meters.
