SALT LAKE CITY — Reno scored eight consecutive runs to erase an early 4-0 Salt Lake lead, as the Aces rallied for an 8-5 win over the Bees on Saturday night.
Salt Lake jumped ahead with three runs in the first on a solo homer by Drew Heid and a two-run shot by Andy Marte. The Bees added another run on a sacrifice fly by Marte in the third.
Reno got on the board with two runs in the fourth and then tied in the fifth on a two-run homer by Josh Wilson. The Aces took the lead when Juan Rivera and Ed Easley opened the sixth inning with back-to-back singles before Alfredo Marte lofted a 1-1 pitch over the left field wall to give Reno a 7-4 lead.
They would add one more in the top of the ninth to go up by four runs.
Scott Cousins was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the ninth. One out later, he advanced to third on a single to right by Chance Ross and then scored on a single by Drew Heid to make it 8-5. That brought the tying run to the plate with just one out, but the final two batters were retired to end the game. Heid led the Bees with three hits and two runs batted in, while Marte had one hit and three RBI. Salt Lake starter Tommy Hanson went five innings and allowed four runs on seven hits with one walk and one strikeouts.
"My guys will be fine," said Bees manager Keith Johnson. "They'll be ready to play."
