SALT LAKE CITY — Gathering supplies for schools, cleaning the outside of schools and enjoying time with kids in schools were on the agenda of volunteers Thursday.

United Way of Salt Lake held its annual Day of Caring Thursday. Volunteers helped in their communities to brighten days and beautify the area.

Day of Caring engages more than 4,000 volunteers from more than 115 local companies. Volunteers spend upwards of 36,000 hours completing more than 100 one-day service projects in Davis, Salt Lake, Summit, and Tooele counties.
