OREM — The Utah Valley University women's volleyball team heads to Ogden on Tuesday for an in-state match against the Weber State Wildcats. The contest will begin a seven-match road swing for the Wolverines and will take place at 7 p.m. at WSU's Swenson Gym.
The matchup will be Utah Valley's third overall and second straight against an in-state foe this season as the Wolverines fell to Utah in the finale of the Wolverine Classic last Saturday. The Wolverines dropped the contest to the Pac-12 Utes in four sets (19-25, 21-25, 29-27, 15-25).
UVU (2-8) will be looking to get back on track Tuesday after being on the wrong end of the scoreboard in its last five matches. The Wolverines went winless against the Utes, Idaho State and UC Irvine last weekend, and also dropped matches to Arizona and Butler the previous week.
Senior setter Brookelyn Hall and sophomore middle blocker Lauren Stringham led UVU over the weekend as both were named to the Wolverine Classic All-Tournament Team. Hall not only dished out a team-high 122 assists (9.38 assist/set average) at the Classic but also added 28 digs, 10 kills, four blocks and two aces. Stringham also earned all-tournament accolades after leading the Wolverines with 10 blocks (0.77 block/set average) and a .379 attack percentage. The sophomore middle blocker also added 28 kills and a 2.15 kill per set average.
Freshman outside hitter Macky Treanor leads UVU offensively on the season with a 3.69 kill per set average and a .278 hitting percentage. Her 3.69 kill per set average is good enough for second in the Western Athletic Conference. Stringham and senior middle blocker Katie Fritzler lead the Wolverines at the net as the duo has combined for 62 blocks. Stringham leads the way with 34 while Fritzler has recorded 28.
