David James ShewellJuly 24, 1935 Sept. 12, 2013Dave, was born on Pioneer Day, just the day before his mother's birthday, a special gift for her and to all who knew him. The son of Lucile James and Harry Shewell, Dave passed away surrounded by loved ones in St. George, UT. He grew up in the heart of Salt Lake City, attending West High School and graduating from Stevens Heneger College. He was a clerk for the Salt Lake County Courts becoming an indispensible asset for several of the area's most prestigious judges. He was beloved by all the staff, especially the teams of clerks he managed as Head Clerk. Dave was known as having a tender heart, loving animals, and showing a great sense of humor by giving everyone he cherished silly nick names. He is survived by his wife, Lynda, and his seven children: Jan (Randy) Hopkins, Chris (Terry) Harper, Sandy (Lloyd) Embry, Brian Shewell, Chad Shewell, Sean (Jackie) Shewell, Austin Shewell, 23 grand-children, 16 great-grandchildren. Siblings: Bonnie (Don) Jentzsch, Jim (Beverly) Shewell, Annette (David) Stanley, Ellsworth Shewell, Vicky Collard, Cordell Shewell. Former wife, Lynda Westphal. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers Winston, Foster; sister Elaine; grandson T.J. Harper; son David Allen Shewell; first wife, Judy George. Funeral service Friday, September 20, 2013 at 12:00 noon at LDS 11th Ward Chapel, 951 East 100 South, Salt Lake City. Viewing at church from 10:00 -11:45 am prior to service.
