Matthew William Van Seters1955 ~ 2013Matthew William Van Seters true-blue wisecracker, silver-tongued sweet talker, tall-tale story teller, and lover of all things family, passed on Wednesday, 18 September 2013. He created strength in his weaknesses. At 5' 11" he stood six-foot one-inches tall. Colorblind, he never saw a red light in his life. He was the only man who could drive 100 miles on an empty tank of gas. Matthew's unfailing journey was to woo the world with his charm, draw a smile on every face with his charisma, bring laughter with his humor, and impart his unceasing capacity to love on every one he met.Despite his cleverness, he never learned to color inside the lines; every straight line had an angle and every story an edge. A salesman through-and-through he never met a "no" he couldn't turn into a "yes." In the end even the most reluctant of clients would add him to their Christmas card list. He loved Top Gun, Cops, Obsession Cologne, Spam, Hamburger-Helper, 7,000 watt sound systems, Porsches, and NASCAR to name a few.He was born 18 January 1955, Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph Hyrum Van Seters and Winifred Marie Hickey. Survived by children, Brandi VanSeters (Sean); and Ryan Van Seters (Monica); Siblings, Karen Hodgson (Edgar); Chad Van Seters (Susan); Brook Mercer (Terry); and Valorie Gillespie (James); Grandchildren, Grace; and Noah. Preceded in death by; Teasa (daughter); Winifred (Mother); Joseph (Father); Josie Conlon (Sister). Funeral services will be held Saturday, the 21 September, 11 am at City Church 802 E. 9400 S. Sandy, Utah 84094.
