SALT LAKE CITY — “Ecology in the Archives” is the theme of presentations hosted by the Utah State Archives in observance of Utah Archives Month in October.
Four authors will discuss their new books which deal with a variety of environmental themes and historical issues in free brown-bag lunch gatherings. All events are at noon.
Mark Fiege, a historian at Colorado State University, opens the series on Thursday, Oct. 3, when he will discuss "The Republic of Nature" at the Zephyr Room at the Rio Grande Depot, 300 S. Rio Grande St. (455 West).
Historian Val Holley will discuss "25th Street Confidential" on Oct. 21, at the State Archives Building, 346 S. Rio Grande St.
Ann Torrence, a writer and photographer, will discuss "U.S. Highway 89" on Oct. 24 at the State Archives Building. The discussion will be followed by a presentation of a new digital project about the highway.
The final presentation will feature Robert Keiter, a law professor at the University of Utah, discussing "To Conserve Unimpaired" at the Archives Building on Oct. 28.
