Conrad Hinckley Burgoyne1933 - 2013Our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Conrad Hinckley Burgoyne, quietly passed away at home from natural causes, with his dear wife by his side, on Sunday, September 22, 2013.Conrad was born on August 4, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ivan Edwin and Mabel Hinckley Burgoyne. He grew up on Capitol Hill with many friends including his brothers Edwin and Raymond. When his family gathered together he would recount fond memories and tell fun stories about running around the State Capitol, which he often referred to as his "playground." He also enjoyed his childhood days spent on the Hinckley Ranch and at Bear Lake. After graduating from West High School he attended the University of Utah. Conrad served a full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Germany. He served faithfully in many callings including Bishop, Employment Missionary and Temple Sealer.Conrad married his sweetheart, Carolyn Sorensen in the Salt Lake Temple on August 20, 1958. Together they had six beautiful children: Karen (Scott) Brereton, Colleen (David) Brown, Beverly (deceased), Barbara (Scott) Fortuna, Douglas (Carol) Burgoyne and Gordon (Tammy) Burgoyne. They have 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Conrad treasured time with his children and their families.When not at home, Conrad most enjoyed being at work. He loved to go to the office. He experienced a wonderful career in the travel business; first with Murdock Travel and then with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He traveled the globe assisting the missionary efforts of the Church. Conrad was happy, kind, patient and a man without guile. He brought a smile to everyone he met as he took a genuine interest in everyone and easily made lifelong friends throughout the world.Conrad had a firm testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ and loved the Lord. He lived his faith and taught his family to do the same. He will be greatly missed by his family and everyone who felt blessed to know him.Friends are invited to visit with the family Friday, September 27 from 6:00 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary (260 E. South Temple). Funeral services will be Saturday, September 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the Foothill 6th Ward building (2215 E. Roosevelt Ave.), with an additional viewing from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Salt Lake Cemetery.
