Barbara Olson Newbold1925 ~ 2014"Together Again"Barbara Olson Newbold, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She passed away in her sleep of natural causes with her loving family at her side on January 16, 2014.She was born June 8, 1925 in Smithfield, Utah to Anthon Leo and Zina Miles Olson. After moving to Midvale she loved returning to Smithfield during the summer to spend time with her Aunt Diana. She married her sweetheart Vernal Newbold in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 19, 1943. Barbara was raised in Midvale, Utah and was a graduate of Jordan High School. An active member of the LDS Church, she served in both Ward and Stake positions as Primary President, Young Women President and Relief Society President. She and Vernal worked as Salt Lake Temple workers and as docents at the LDS Church Museum. Barbara performed countless acts of service throughout her life. Her grandchildren lovingly referred to her as "Grandma B."Barbara's greatest joys in life were her family and friends. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining and decorating. Barbara took great pride in her flower gardens and beautiful home. She loved making and keeping many family traditions.Survived by four daughters, Judy (Douglas) Norton, West Jordan; Sharon Newbold, Sandy; Beverly (Dennis) Harward, Holladay; Suzanne Lindsay, Midvale; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gerald Olson, Midvale; and Richard (Jane) Olson, California. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Vernal; her parents; and sister, Ivagene Thompson.Barbara's loss will be felt by many loving family members and friends.The family wishes a heartfelt thank you to those at Assisted Living of Draper, Curtis and Leslie Payne, Todd Wilcock, RN and Don Fenton for their devoted and loving care of our mother.Funeral services Monday, January 20, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So.
