MIDVALE — A Midvale man with dementia who went missing Tuesday night was found alive and well late Wednesday morning.
Unified police confirmed that a resident located Sam DeLuca, who had been missing since 10 p.m. Tuesday, at 8200 S. Redwood Road. Paramedics were examining DeLuca.
DeLuca, 75, went missing near 440 W. 7500 South. Police issued an Endangered Missing Advisory for DeLuca and were seeking the public's help in finding the man, who has dementia and diabetes.
Family members had last seen DeLuca when he left to go on a walk from his residence, according to Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal. Police were called at 12:36 a.m. when he did not return.
DeLuca lives with family members because he cannot care for himself, Hoyal said. DeLuca was not carrying a cellphone, money or ID when he went missing.
Police and K-9 units unsuccessfully searched through the night for DeLuca. They were concerned about the cold and the likelihood that he might not know how to find his way home. DeLuca is an avid walker and has gone missing before, Hoyal said. On previous occasions, family members found him in West Jordan and Taylorsville.
