SALT LAKE CITY — Rowland Hall School students let their own games begin with an Olympic-style opening ceremony at the school on Tuesday.
The school is learning about the Olympic spirit while exercising as they participate in a variety of activities that simulate Olympic sports.
The students earn “miles” for each event they complete. Instead of adding miles to their individual tallies, students’ individual accomplishments contribute to the student body’s aggregate total.
The aggregate total is on display at the school entrance, taking the form of the outline of an Olympic torch that is filled in with color as the students earn miles. The student body must earn the 6,367 miles that separate Salt Lake City from Soch to achieve their goal.
