OGDEN — Mayor Mike Caldwell is turning in one set of wheels for another by committing to ride his bicycle to work every day in 2014.

Caldwell made his first commute by bike Monday morning in frigid temperatures, along Washington Boulevard, waving to bundled-up city employees taking down thousands of lights that adorned Christmas Village.

“It was definitely cold out there today, but I made a commitment to ride to work each day of this year to bring awareness to our city’s bikeable streets,” Caldwell said. “My goal is to take our city from the bronze level of recognition we received last year to the gold standard of bicycle friendly communities designated by the League of American Bicycles.”
