High school sports: Thursday's roundup



DUCHESNE 51, ALTAMONT 7: A huge third quarter allowed Duchesne to pull away for the dominating victory.


NORTHRIDGE 28, LAYTON 26: Northridge held off a furious Layton rally to get the win. Dayan Lake scored twice to lead the Knights.


BRIGHTON 52, ALTA 21: Brighton built a big lead at halftime and then controlled the third quarter to cruise to the win.

BINGHAM 56, WEST JORDAN 6: Kyle Gearig connected with Colton Livingston for four touchdowns and Kade Cloward returned an interception 40-yards for a score as the Miners rolled to the lopsided victory over the Jaguars.

JORDAN 63, COPPER HILLS 21: Austin Kafentzis threw four touchdowns and ran for another as Jordan dominated the first half and went on to pummel Copper Hills. The Beetdigger defense also returned two interceptions to the end zone. Josh Villamore ran for a touchdown in addition to catching two from Kafentzis.


RIVERTON 42, WESTLAKE 30: Riverton used a big 21-0 third quarter to pull away from Westlake and held on in the fourth quarter to come away with the victory. Cameron Christensen had a 29-yard touchdown run to go along with a 32-yard score on a pass from his quarterback, Korbyn Baucom.

LONE PEAK 42, LEHI 13: Lone Peak outscored Lehi 28-6 in the second and third quarters to cruise to the win. Talmage Gunther threw three touchdowns, two to Jackson McChesney, to lead the Knights. Gunther also scored once on the ground. Cade Calton scored both of the Pioneers touchdowns in the loss.

HERRIMAN 41, PLEASANT GROVE 20: Herriman built a three-touchdown lead at halftime, withstood a Pleasant Grove charge in the third quarter and then controlled the final frame en route to the win. Christian Miller threw three touchdowns to lead the Mustangs.


ROY 36, SKY VIEW 32: In a wild finish, Roy outscored Sky View 22-7 in the fourth quarter to get the win and stay undefeated. Tyler Skidmore led the Royals with two touchdowns on the ground while Isaac Hermann had two scampers in the loss.

LOGAN 28, BOX ELDER 21: Hunter Horsley connected with Chandler Lowrey on a 17-yard touchdown pass in overtime and then the Logan defense stopped Box Elder to secure the win. The extra session arrived as the Bees overcame a 21-point deficit. Horsley threw two touchdowns on the night for the Grizzlies while Connor Udy found Jarom Mecham twice for Box Elder.

MOUNTAIN CREST 43, OGDEN 3: Mountain Crest built a 36-3 lead at halftime en route to dominating Ogden.


SALEM HILLS 21, SPANISH FORK 16: Salem Hills hung on to its lead despite a late charge from Spanish Fork to get the win.


MILFORD 40, SUMMIT ACADEMY JV 20: Milford won the first quarter 21-0 and cruised to the victory. Wade Netto found the end zone three times for the Tigers, Jordan Hardy twice and Nathan Barnes once in the win.

COTTONWOOD DEF. HUNTER 21-25, 19-25, 25-10, 25-18, 15-8: Cottonwood dug out of a two-set hole to beat Hunter.

GRANGER DEF. HILLCREST 25-16, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23: Granger got past Hillcrest in four sets.

TAYLORSVILLE DEF. WEST 26-24, 25-16, 25-16: After a close first set, Taylorsville dominated the last two to sweep West.


WEST JORDAN DEF. BRIGHTON 21-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-23: West Jordan rebounded after dropping the first set to take the next three and the match. Marissa Hogan had 16 kills and Cherish Sosi had 16 service points for the Jaguars.

BINGHAM DEF. ALTA 23-25, 25-20, 25-10, 25-14: Torre Glasker finished with a .434 hitting percentage and 25 kills to lead Bingham as it beat Alta.


LEHI DEF. RIVERTON 25-19, 25-15, 25-20: Ali Greenwood and Toa Faleao combined for 25 kills to lead Lehi in its sweep over Riverton. Syd White came up with 16 digs for the Pioneers.

WESTLAKE DEF. HERRIMAN 19-25, 25-22, 25-22, 26-24: The Thunder rallied after an opening-set loss to take three straight for the Region 4 victory. Leading Westlake in the win was senior setter Kelsey LaPray, who had 28 assists, and junior libero Annika Lacienta, who had 16 digs.


BOUNTIFUL DEF. WOODS CROSS 25-16, 25-14, 23-25, 25-20: Brittney Rathmann had 25 assists and Sidney Brandon came up with 15 digs as the Braves beat the Wildcats.

CLEARFIELD DEF. KEARNS 25-17, 25-7, 25-19: Clearfield was led by Kiersten Banks, who had 12 kills with a hit percentage of .545. Banks also had two blocks and one service ace in the Falcons victory.



SKYLINE DEF. OLYMPUS 25-18, 25-10, 25-16: Skyline controlled the match throughout en route to the sweep of Olympus.


DESERT HILLS DEF. CANYON VIEW 25-11, 25-15, 25-12: Desert Hills dominated Canyon View in a sweep.

SNOW CANYON DEF. DIXIE 25-19, 25-20, 25-13: The Warriors cruised in region action, led by the play of Crash Parker, who had 20 kills and 22 digs, Kodee Avery, who had 33 assists and six digs, and Shaylee Reed, who had three aces and eight digs.


GRANTSVILLE DEF. BEN LOMOND 25-9, 22-25, 20-25, 25-19, 15-10: Grantsville won the last two sets to sneak by Ben Lomond.

STANSBURY DEF. BEAR RIVER 22-25, 20-25, 26-24, 25-21, 20-18: Up two sets, Bear River held four match points before the Stallions rallied to keep the match going. In the fifth set, both teams had multiple match points before Stansbury ultimately clinched the victory. Tiffany Robbins led the Stallions with 27 kills, Katie Flint had 14 kills, and Jessica Bassett had 18 digs.


ENTERPRISE DEF. DELTA 25-13, 18-25, 25-20, 18-25, 15-3: The Wolves fended off two Delta comebacks to pick up the Region 13 victory. Riley Lyman led the way with 32 kills, 16 blocks, and 26 digs while Jessica Farnsworth added nine kills and three blocks and Kaylee Christensen had 31 assists and five digs.

MILLARD DEF. PAROWAN 25-18, 25-15, 25-14: Millard controlled the match en route to the sweep of Parowan.

KANAB DEF. BEAVER 25-19, 25-15, 25-22: Kanab cruised to the sweep of Beaver.


MAESER PREP DEF. LAYTON CHRISTIAN 25-16, 16-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-4: Carter Stancil finished with seven kills and Ashlyn Ellis had 10 assists to lead the Lions to the five-set victory. Abriel Rosenvall had seven service aces and nine digs in the win.

ROWLAND HALL DEF. ROCKWELL 25-14, 25-10, 25-15: Anna Reganis had 11 kills and three blocks as Rowland Hall swept Rockwell to finish its region slate undefeated. Arielle Flynn added nine kills and two blocks while Maddie Hansen had 23 assists and Liza Badenhausen came up with 21 digs for the Winged Lions.


NORTH SUMMIT DEF. SUMMIT ACADEMY 25-17, 25-9, 25-8: North Summit had 37 kills and 11 aces as a team as it swept Summit Academy.

AMERICAN LEADERSHIP DEF. GUNNISON 25-16, 25-27, 27-25, 21-25, 15-13: ALA prevailed in a dogfight as its seniors stepped up big.



INTERMOUNTAIN CHRISTIAN DEF. ST. JOSEPH 12-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-22: After suffering a first-set loss, the Lions rallied to win the next three and capture the victory. For the Jayhawks in the loss, Mady White had 13 kills and 22 digs and Kathleen Tomon had seven solo blocks, four kills, and 19 assists.

WENDOVER DEF. DUGWAY 25-11, 25-13, 25-15: All six Wendover seniors made a contribution in the three-game sweep of Dugway.
