Whether you agree with the president's action on immigration or not, I challenge everyone to separate observations from political rancor for one day and look at the millions of lives and families who have been affected by this unnecessary six-year congressional stalemate. Mothers and fathers and children who only wanted to better themselves (or even save their lives) by leaving a hopeless situation of unemployment, drugs, gangs and no future.

We see them every day, working very hard at jobs most Americans no longer want. Now they have a chance to better themselves and contribute much more to our society and economy. We would all do the same thing if we were in their shoes.

That is what this issue is really about, helping our fellow human beings. It's about people.
