SOUTH JORDAN — Both drivers were killed in a head-on collision Monday.

The crash occurred about noon where Daybreak Parkway meets Mountain View Highway in South Jordan. A 23-year-old woman from Herriman was driving west on Daybreak Parkway and collided with a 46-year-old man from Sandy, who was headed south on Mountain View Highway in a semitrailer.

The two drivers were extricated from their vehicles and taken by medical helicopter to area hospitals in extremely critical condition, according to a South Jordan spokesman. They later died of their injuries.

The names of the two drivers were not released Monday pending family notification. Both drivers were alone in their vehicles.

Sections of Daybreak Parkway and Mountain View Highway were closed until about 7 p.m. as crews investigated and cleared the accident.
