The Brooklyn Nets are set to unload Andrei Kirilenko to the Philadelphia 76ers, according to Yahoo Sports.
Citing unnamed league sources, Yahoo's Adrian Wojnaroski reports the Nets will send the 33-year-old Kirilenko and a 2020 second-round pick to the 76ers for former BYU standout Brandon Davies.
The deal looks like a salary dump for the Nets. While Kirilenko will make $3.3 million this season, a trade of the former Jazz forward would save the Nets about $12 million in salary and luxury taxes according to ESPN. The Yahoo report says Kirilenko is expected to be waived by the Sixers.
Buried on Lionel Hollins' bench, Kirilenko is currently averaging 0.4 points, 1.1 rebounds and 5.1 minutes per game. Davies, meanwhile, is in his second season with the Sixers and is averaging 6.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. Davies, who has six starts under his belt for the 2-19 Sixers, did not play in Wednesday's loss to the Atlanta Hawks.
The Utah Jazz drafted Kirilenko with the 24th pick in the 1999 NBA draft. The Russian had his best years as a professional during his 10 years with the Jazz.
Kirilenko was a 2004 All-Star in a season where he averaged 16.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.9 steals, and 2.8 blocks per game. He was also a three-time NBA All-Defensive Team selection.
