SALT LAKE CITY — Kimberly Barnett, an adviser to two Salt Lake County mayors, has been appointed associate deputy mayor by Mayor Ben McAdams.
Barnett, who has served the McAdams administration as a senior adviser, oversaw local government relations and environmental policy for former Mayor Peter Corroon.
While serving the Corroon administration, Barnett oversaw the installation of major solar photovoltaic projects and partnered with other organizations on an initiative to help improve air quality in the county. She has also represented the mayor's office on a number of task forces, boards and committees.
“From overseeing the county’s sustainability initiatives, to managing big collaborative partnerships involving the future of the central Wasatch Mountains and canyons, Kimberly is an experienced professional who will continue to help guide projects and policies that deliver results for county residents,” McAdams said.
The appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Salt Lake County Council.
Prior to her government service, Barnett was as a development officer for the University of Utah and for the YWCA of Salt Lake City. She is a graduate of the University of Utah, where she earned a bachelor's degree in sociology and Master of Public Administration. She is the mother of 3-year-old daughter.
