Everyday life is significantly affected by the sacrifices, ideas and inventions of brilliant minds and brave souls. We illuminate our homes thanks to the light bulb. We travel long distances in the lap of airborne luxury thanks to the airplane. And modern technology allows us to communicate across continents in seconds.
But one carpenter's sacrifice has an even greater, longer-lasting effect on our lives. Because of Jesus Christ's resurrection, we can find relief from regret, feel hope in the midst of despair and be given life after death.
This is the message of a new YouTube video released by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Sunday titled “Because of Him.”
The video is part of an LDS Church initiative by the same name that aims to help people learn more about Jesus Christ during the time between Palm Sunday, April 13, and Easter, April 20.
“As followers of Jesus Christ, we seek to do as he has instructed: ‘Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.’ The ‘Because of Him’ Easter initiative is part of an ongoing effort to follow the Savior’s admonition,” said Elder David F. Evans, executive director of the Missionary Department, in an interview with LDS Church News.
The "Because of Him" campaign includes a website where visitors can watch the video, learn more about the Resurrection and chat with full-time missionaries.
LDS Church members are encouraged to share the video and associated material using the hashtag #becauseofhim.
