3A PLAYOFFS

DESERT HILLS 3, PINE VIEW 2: Dylan File went 1 for 3 with a home run and also struck out eight batters on the mound to lead Desert Hills past Pine View in the winners bracket of the 3A state tournament at UVU.

GRANTSVILLE 11, JUAN DIEGO 7: Grantsvilles bats woke up late in the 3A winners bracket game at UVU, as it scored four runs in the fifth and six more in the seventh to roll past Juan Diego for the victory.

UINTAH 5, CARBON 3: After falling behind 3-0 after the first inning, Uintah methodically clawed its way back into the game and went ahead for good in the ninth inning of the Thursday morning one-loss bracket victory.

CEDAR 9, RICHFIELD 3: Cedar used a big third inning to pull away from Richfield to advance in the 3A one-loss bracket.

PARK CITY 6, JUAB 2: Park City jumped out to an early lead and then tacked on three more insurance runs in the fifth to advance past Juab in the morning one-loss bracket game.

CANYON VIEW 5, STANSBURY 2: Canyon View built a 5-0 lead and never looked back to eliminate Stansbury in the 3A one-loss bracket.

CEDAR 11, UINTAH 5: Brock Esplin hit a grand slam in the first inning and Cedar never looked back in a one-loss bracket victory over Uintah, its second victory of the day.

PARK CITY 4, CANYON VIEW 3: After Canyon View scored two runs in the top of the seventh to take a one-run lead, Park City responded with two runs of its own to survive and advance in the 3A one-loss bracket at UVU. Jaxon Hermansen drove in the winning run on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the seventh.

GRANTSVILLE 6, PAYSON 3: Whitney Fields earned the victory for the Cowboys in the second round of the 3A state tournament.

STANSBURY 5, CEDAR 0: Kimbri Herring struck out 11 and allowed just three hits in the shutout as Cedar advanced in the winner's bracket of the 3A state tournament. Janessa Bassett hit a home run in the victory.

UINTAH 7, CANYON VIEW 1: The top-ranked Utes defeated the second-ranked Falcons in the second round of the 3A state tournament Thursday behind freshman pitcher Summer Stensgard, who earned the win and hit two home runs. The win means the Utes are the only No. 1 seed to advance in the winner's bracket.

JUAB 6, TOOELE 3: The Wasps upset the Top-seeded, third-ranked Buffalo thanks to a 10-hit outing and no errors in the field. Pitcher McCall Sperry earned the victory.

TOOELE 11, UNION 1: Tooele gained a strong lead in the third inning which lead to their victory against Union. Whitney Touhuni hit a home run in the win.

SPANISH FORK 7, OLYMPUS 5: McKinley Brinkerhoff slugged a home run to lead Spanish Fork offensively.

MAPLE MOUNTAIN 5, EAST 3: Carley Guymon threw a complete game to lead the Golden Eagles to a second-straight upset victory in the 4A state tournament.

BONNEVILLE 4, CLEARFIELD 2: After a tie game to start the seventh inning, the Lakers pulled ahead to get the win against the Falcons. Andrea Hancock hit a home run and was the winning pitcher for Bonneville.

SALEM HILLS 4, WOODS CROSS 0: Salem Hills continued its title defense with a victory over visiting Woods Cross. Kirtlyn Bohling had 14 strikeouts and earned a shutout.

BOUNTIFUL 14, ROY 8: The Braves came out strong in the first inning to secure the win against the Royals. Sydney Austin hit a triple for Bountiful in the win.

BOX ELDER 11, TIMPANOGOS 1: Box Elder was consistent in runs each inning to clench the victory against Timpanogos. McKell Marble was the winning pitcher and also hit a double in the win.

SPRINGVILLE 3, OREM 0: Kaycie Jensen struck out 12 and Mary Fredrickson added a triple as Springville used a three-run seventh to pull away from Orem and advance in the 4A one-loss bracket.

MURRAY 13, MOUNTAIN CREST 2: Maddie Fritsch helped the Spartans stay alive with a homer and a triple.

5A PLAYOFFS

RIVERTON 7, COPPER HILLS 5: In this close matchup, the Silverwolves pulled ahead in the sixth inning to clench the victory against the Grizzlies. Jordan Lockhart was the winning pitcher in the game.

LAYTON 5, ALTA 0: The Lancers came out strong to claim the victory against the Hawks. Kimberly Taylor hit a home run and Cassidy Anderson and Raeana Gall both hit doubles for Layton in the win.

LEHI 6, TAYLORSVILLE 2: Sydney White and Stefani Zimmerman hit doubles for the Pioneers in the win against the Warriors.

BINGHAM 5, HERRIMAN 4: The Miners kept their lead that they gained in the third inning to be victorious against the Mustangs.

HUNTER 3, LONE PEAK 2: Jorden Beutler only allowed five hits over seven innings as Hunter dug itself out of an early 2-0 deficit to knock off Lone Peak in the 5A one-loss bracket.

FREMONT 8, WEST JORDAN 3: The Silver Wolves Shaylee Pierce hit a home run in the win against the Jaguars.

VIEWMONT 16, GRANGER 0: Caitlyn Larsen and Amanda Varley both hit a pair of home runs as Viewmont rolled past Granger in the 5A one-loss bracket.
