Americans are increasingly more ideologically consistent since 1994 and, therefore, more partisan, Pew Research reports.
More Democrats now have uniformly liberal opinions and more Republicans have consistently conservative opinions than in previous U.S. political history, according to the study.
“In 2004, only about one-in-ten Americans were uniformly liberal or conservative across most values,” Pew wrote. “Today, the share who are ideologically consistent has doubled: 21 percent express either consistently liberal or conservative opinions across a range of issues.”
