University of Utah Health Care and Salt Lake City Fire Department are asking for the public’s help in locating all automatic external defibrillators in Salt Lake City. AEDs are electronic, briefcase-sized devices designed to allow first responders at a medical emergency to help someone who is suffering from cardiac arrest.
U. Health Care and Salt Lake Fire are joining other agencies across the country in the HeartMap Challenge. The public can help medical personnel locate all AEDs through a 30-day scavenger hunt via social media.
Participants will compete for up to $5,000. To learn more about the contest follow HeartMap Salt Lake City on Twitter by using the hashtag #HeartMapSaltLakeCity and by following @cprnation.
