Utah Grizzlies head coach and General Manager Tim Branham announced Wednesday that the team signed defenseman Charles-Olivier Roussel for the 2014-2015 season.

“Charlie is another top-notch addition that we have made to our hockey club,” Branham said. “He is a good skater who defends very well. His AHL experience will prove very valuable for our locker room and I will rely on him extensively in all game situations. We are very pleased to have Charlie.”

Roussel played 66 games in 2013-2014 with the Nashville Predators AHL affiliate in Milwaukee totaling four goals and 13 assists for 17 points. He split his rookie season in 2012-2013 between Cincinnati of the ECHL and Milwaukee. He had six goals and 11 assists for 17 points in 40 games with the Cyclones and one assist in 17 games with the Admirals.

He was drafted by Nashville in the second round and 42nd overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

The Grizzlies open the 2014-2015 regular season at Maverik Center against the Idaho Steelheads on Friday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.
