My son and I returned happy football fans after the University of Utah defeated the Michigan Wolverines this past Saturday. It was an exciting and impressive win! As impressive as the win was, the most impressive thing to us was the sportsmanship of the Michigan fans.
Before the game, as we walked to the "Big House," Michigan fans welcomed us with comments of "good luck" and "welcome to Michigan." As we entered the gates, the same greeting came from the employees and ushers. In the football stadium there was no booing when the Utes came to the field at the beginning of the game or after halftime. What a refreshing experience.
I hope Utah fans are as classy next year when Michigan comes to Salt Lake. Football fans could learn a lot about sportsmanship from the Michigan fans who made our visit to the "Big House" memorable.
