SOUTH JORDAN — Police say a 16-year-old boy stabbed his stepfather during an argument in their car Thursday.
The two, along with the boy's mother, were driving east near 10400 South and 1300 West in South Jordan before 4 p.m. Thursday when they began arguing. The teen pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed his 45-year-old stepfather as he drove, wounding him in the chest, South Jordan Police Cpl. Sam Winkler said.
The teen threw the pocketknife out of the car as the man pulled the car over. It was later recovered by a police K9 team.
The man was taken to an area hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening. The teen was taken into custody for investigation of aggravated assault. The boy's mother was seated in the back.
Police were unsure what started the argument, Winkler said.
