It was a productive bye week for the Cougars.

BYU rested up as it prepares for Utah State this Friday, and it also jumped two spots the AP poll to No. 18, as well as two spots the Amway Coaches poll to No. 19 without even playing a game.

The Cougars jumped ahead of South Carolina and Arizona State in both polls, moving to the No. 19 spot. South Carolina dropped out of each poll after a 21-20 loss to Missouri on Saturday. The Sun Devils slipped to No. 24 in the coaches rankings following a 62-27 loss to No. 8/9 UCLA and out of the AP poll.

BYU wasn't the only school to benefit from the bye week in the coaches poll. Alabama moved up to the top spot, surpassing Florida State, which struggled for the second consecutive week.

The Seminoles slid to the second spot in the Amway Coaches poll. Oklahoma, Oregon and Auburn round out the top five. Oklahoma State and TCU moved into the rankings.

However, there were no changes to the top five in the AP poll, as FSU remains No. 1 with Oregon and Alabama trailing close behind. Oklahoma and Auburn round out the top five in the AP poll.

BYU will host Utah State on Friday. Kickoff is slated for 8:15 p.m.
