KINGS PEAK, Summit County — Search and rescue crews spent Tuesday looking for a 73-year-old man who was last seen on Friday.

Paul C. Young, of Salt Lake City, left his home on Friday to go hiking and camping at Kings Peak. Summit County Sheriff's Capt. Justin Martinez said Young, an avid outdoorsman, did not have an exact plan of when he would return home or how long he would hike. But he estimated the trip would only be a couple of days, he said.

About 2 a.m. on Tuesday, however, Young's wife became worried about the amount of time he had been gone and called police.

A sheriff's deputy found Young's vehicle at the Henry's Fork Trailhead on Tuesday. Martinez said Young was believed to have food and water and appropriate clothing for the area.

Eleven search and rescue members scoured the area on the ground and a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter assisted in the search without success. Officials noted that the weather in the area was "poor" and searchers were proceeding with caution.
