In blasting a Top 10 team like Utah and doing so in convincing fashion, Arizona reminded the nation it is not a team to be taken lightly.
That's the edge the Wildcats showed before slowing down in recent weeks. That was the highlight from last week for the western college basketball team.
However, the Wildcats aren't alone in sending messages. San Diego State beat a nationally ranking Wyoming squad on the road, Saint Mary's toppled BYU, and Washington regained strength after a four-game dry spell.
So here's where the West stands after another busy week of college hoops.
Note: As always, honorable-mention candidates are based on leaders of conferences that did not appear in the top 10 and do not necessarily mean they are the top teams outside of the chosen top 10. Conferences included in these power rankings are Big Sky, Big West, Mountain West, Pac-12, Western Athletic and West Coast. Use of KenPom.com, Massey and RPI ratings are not the absolute basis of the power rankings, but an idea where teams hold up in national metrics ratings. Massy's rankings are dated Jan. 18.
