The Ontario Reign (23-11-2-4) defeated the Utah Grizzlies (18-15-4-3), 3-2, in a shootout Monday afternoon at Maverik Center before 6,383 fans.

The Grizzlies earn a standings point in the contest to go unbeaten in seven-straight games at 5-0-2-0.

Utah goaltender Ryan Faragher made a career-high 41 saves in the game as he stopped 41-of-43 Ontario shots.

After Ontario took a 1-0 lead on a shorthanded goal 13:33 into the first period, the Grizzlies responded with two in the second period.

Michael Pelech picked up the puck at the Utah blue line and scored his team-leading 19th goal of the season on a two-on-one to tie the game 3:19 into the second.

The Grizzlies took a 2-1 lead with 4:01 left in the second period as Ryan Hayes tipped in a Jacob Johnston blast on the power-play. Brandon Yip also picked up an assist as the Grizzlies scored 16 seconds into the power-play.

Ontario tied the game early in the third period forcing overtime and then won the shootout, 2-0.

The Grizzlies open a two-game series when the Bakersfield Condors make their first trip to Utah since last year’s playoffs on Friday.
