Utah State's men's and women's track and field teams continued their stellar indoor campaign at the Boise State hosted Bronco Invitational held Saturday at the Jacksons Indoor Track at the Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho. In all, USU collected 25 top-five finishes in its second meet of the season.
In addition to its 25 top-five finishes, Utah State also had five individuals win event titles including senior Nic Bowens in the 60m dash (6.75) and the 200m (21.26), junior Cole Lambourne in the 400m (47.21) and freshman Clay Lambourne winning the 600m (1:18.19). Senior Eric Shellhorn topped the 800m (1:52.12), and senior Sam Nielson won the triple jump (12.73m) for the second-straight week.
Other top performances for the Aggie men included junior Parker Bluth placing second in the 60m dash (6.80) and the 200m (21.37), while senior Jacob Bautista finished third in the 60m dash (6.91) and fifth in the 200m (21.80). Along with winning the 400m, Cole Lambourne also posted a time of 21.75 in the 200m, helping him place third in that event. Freshman Tyus Kuykendall finished fifth in the 400m (49.83), while freshman Jordan Buetler placed third in the 800m (1:55.03). Junior Kevin Allen placed third in the shot put (15.93m) and fourth in the weight throw (15.76m).
On the women's side, Chari Hawkins placed second in the 60m hurdles (8.54) and the long jump (5.63m), as well as recording a throw of 11.06m good enough to place 19th in the shot put.
Other top performances for the women included freshman Kelsey Yamauchi placing third in the 3,000m (9:59.80) with fellow freshman Caroline Weiler placing fourth (10:00.47). Adela Hofmannova finished fourth in the 1,000m (2:55.13), while senior Amber Thompson placed fourth in the pole vault (3.65m). Additonally, senior Jodi Williams placed fourth in the high jump (1.70m), sophomore Brittany Rawlins finished fifth in the 60m dash (7.89) and senior Melanie Heslop took fifth in the weight throw (16.28m).
Utah State indoor track and field action continues Saturday, Jan. 31, as the Aggies head to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the New Mexico Collegiate Invitational.
