It’s good to be out there with the guys, competing again – Anson Winder

SAN DIEGO — BYU senior guard Anson Winder was back on the floor Saturday at San Diego after missing the two previous games against Pacific and Saint Mary's due to a knee sprain.

In his return, Winder went 4 of 12 from the field and finished with nine points and two steals in the Cougars’ 77-74 setback at Jenny Craig Pavilion. He hit 1 of 4 shots from 3-point territory.

Winder said his knee “felt a lot better (Saturday).”

Though he was disappointed with the outcome, he was glad to be playing after a two-game layoff.

“It’s good to be out there with the guys, competing again,” he said. “The adrenalin gets going and you can’t really feel much. (The knee) wasn’t a factor tonight. I should have played better. I could have done more.”

Where did this game get away from BYU?

“On the defensive end," Winder said. "We gave up some offensive rebounds and gave up too many open shots."
