"New Mexico State came into the game with a lot of energy," Utah Valley head coach Dick Hunsaker said. "We had a couple of untimely costly turnovers early in the game and I think that helped ignite New Mexico State. I thought there were some bright spots for us that we will be able to build on. Give the credit to New Mexico State tonight. They played outstanding."

NMSU then held on to the lead to take a 33-22 advantage into the break.
The Aggies opened the second half with an 11-3 run and extended their lead to 21 points. NM State then continued to build upon its lead late into the second half to secure the victory.
