I am a junior at Lone Peak High School. My school suffers from a large amount of strict social groups, often called cliques. I believe this problem with cliques comes from something similar to the cause of the increased amount of narcissists in my generation. Living in the area that I do, most people are from the same general background. They look at anyone who is not part of their clique as improper and a bad influence.
These cliques are caused by a misunderstanding of what value people have. Many of these people truly believe they are set apart from everyone around them, but should learn otherwise. Hard work, while often cliche, is an important part of life. Hard work is one of the best ways to learn about the true worth of a person. It leads to a better understanding of everyone around you, including yourself. Nowadays hard work is considered unorthodox, which makes it all the more important.
