AMERICAN FORK — Coming off of a tough win against Lehi, Westlake was looking for a win against American Fork and continue the Cavemen's losing streak, but American Fork had other ideas.

American Fork (10-7, 4-2) beat Westlake in a hard-fought game Tuesday night, and the fact that the Cavemen were on a two-game losing streak, the 59-54 win was more of a relief then anything.

It was American Fork's third consecutive win over the Thunder, but fans can expect Westlake to put up quite the fight in their next meeting Feb. 19 at Westlake.

Trailing by nine heading into the fourth quarter, Westlake made a comeback and eventually took a one-point lead, but execution in the final two minutes and 19 points from American Fork's Dallin Harley was too much for the Thunder to handle.

Behind Harley, Brendan Bailey added 14 in the win.

Westlake's Asa McCord, who led the Thunder with 14 points, tried to keep the Thunder in it, but the team did not make enough defensive stops down the stretch.

Momentum seemed to be in American Fork's hands for most of the game, and without home-court advantage it was almost impossible for momentum to swing Westlake's way. Whenever the Thunder make a big play, the Cavemen came back swinging and make a big play.

The Thunder (8-8, 2-4) hosts Pleasant Grove Friday, while American Fork hosts Lehi Friday.
