The Utah Valley University women's basketball team seeks its first road win against Chicago State on Thursday, Jan. 29, at the Jones Convocation Center at 6:05 p.m. MT.

The Wolverines (7-12, 1-3 WAC) dropped their last two contests against WAC leaders Texas-Pan American, 52-59, and New Mexico State, 68-58, at home and continue WAC play on the road against the Cougars (2-15, 0-4 WAC) and Kansas City.

"This is an important road trip for us. We need to gain some momentum and get some wins on the road to be competitive in the WAC," head coach Cathy Nixon said. "I think we've learned that we need to play 40 minutes of basketball, and that we need to be consistent to bring home a win."

Utah Valley is led by sophomore standout Rhaiah Spooner-Knight averaging 13 points per game. She is closely followed by teammate Mariah Seals with 11.1. Seals and Spooner-Knight are the only Wolverines to start in all games this season. Karlee Norris leads on the boards with 8.0, while Seals leads with 3.2 assists per game, as well as 1.3 steals per game.

UVU leads the series against Chicago State, 9-5, winning the last contest against the Cougars at home on Feb. 20, 2014, 84-62. The Wolverines are on a four-game winning streak, with the last Cougar win being in 2012.

Layne Murphy leads Chicago State in scoring with 10.0 points per game, as well as on the boards grabbing 7.0 per contest. Sarah Amalou leads with 2.3 assists per game, while teammate Paris Williams is averaging 1.4 steals.

The game will be broadcast live on the WAC Digital Network, and links can be found on the Wolverines website.
