SALT LAKE CITY — The state Division of Wildlife Resources is offering a free workshop about fishing for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass in Utah.

In addition to learning how to catch bass, the workshop will cover topics related to the management of bass in the state, including the future of bass in Utah, how to get involved in the management of Utah's bass fishing waters, and illegal fish transplants and how they affect bass in the state.

Biologists will also share information about how bass are doing in three popular Utah bass fishing waters: Pelican Lake, and Pineview and Jordanelle reservoirs.

The free workshop will be held Feb. 7 in the auditorium at Department of Natural Resources, 1594 W. North Temple in Salt Lake City. It runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Attendees have an opportunity to win free fishing gear.

Utah's Blue Ribbon Fisheries Advisory Council is putting on the workshop. Other sponsors include Berkley, the DWR and the Utah Bass Nation. You can get a schedule for the workshop on the DWR wildlife calendar at wildlife.utah.gov.
