Intermountain Medical Center staff, along with EMS personnel from six agencies, were honored on Thursday a medical milestone: Every heart attack patient transported and treated in the past three years has received lifesaving balloon therapy within 90 minutes. EMS agencies include Gold Cross Ambulance, Murray City Fire, Park City Fire, Salt Lake City Fire, Sandy Fire and Unified Fire Authority.

Treatment protocol and teamwork between several departments at Intermountain Medical Center and emergency medical service responders led to achieving the goal. Most recently, a patient’s door-to-balloon time was 28 minutes.
