FALL RIVER, Mass. — Testimony has resumed in the murder trial of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez a day after prosecutors laid out their case in opening statements.
Hernandez is accused of orchestrating the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee. His lawyer said Thursday that the ex-NFL star is innocent and had no reason to kill Lloyd, whom he described as Hernandez's friend.
Friday morning's testimony began with a man who worked in the industrial park where Lloyd's body was found. He described seeing Lloyd's body after a high school student discovered it and came to his office for help.
Hernandez's brother, DJ, sat behind the defense table and frequently rubbed his eyes. Lloyd's mother and his girlfriend, Shaneah Jenkins, sat together behind prosecutors.
