SYRACUSE — A man was shot Thursday after police say he opened fire on officers who were responding to a domestic disturbance call.

"As soon as officers went to the door, they were fired upon immediately," said Syracuse police officer Erin Behm.

None of the officers were injured.

The man, who was not identified, was taken by medical helicopter to an area hospital. His condition was unknown Thursday.

Four officers from the Syracuse Police Department and Davis County Sheriff's Office had responded to the call about 7 p.m. near 2125 South and 3000 West, Behm said. The man's girlfriend had called police saying they were arguing and he had a gun.

No one else was in the home at the time.

Details about which officers returned fire and how many shots were fired were not immediately released.
