Mormon Tabernacle Choir announces 6 guests for annual Christmas concert

After being joined by the "Sesame Street" Muppets last year, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir announced Thursday morning that six special guests will join the choir for their annual Christmas concert this year. Laura Osnes, the Broadway star of “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” captured the hearts of concertgoers earlier this year during the choir’s Pioneer Day concert and will return to Utah for the Christmas concert.

Osnes will be joined by four Metropolitan Opera soloists: Erin Morley, soprano; Tamara Mumford, mezzo-soprano; Ben Bliss, tenor; and Tyler Simpson, bass.

British screen and voice actor Martin Jarvis will narrate this year’s program. Jarvis appeared in the movie “Titanic” and was the voice of Satine in Disney’s “Wreck-It Ralph.”

The 2015 Christmas concert will be held Dec. 18-19, with a public dress rehearsal on Dec. 17. While admission is free, tickets are required for the performance and can be requested on lds.org/events beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Oct 24. Request must be made by Nov. 2. Tickets will be distributed through a random selection process.

It is expected that more than 80,000 will attend the concert in the LDS Conference Center in Salt Lake City.

In keeping with tradition, Mormon Tabernacle Choir President Ron Jarrett and Music Director Mack Wilberg announced the guests on “The Doug Wright Show.”
