MONTICELLO — A New York man died after falling approximately 750 feet at Dead Horse State Park.

Michael Albu, 24, of College Point, New York, was reported overdue Tuesday by family members who phoned state park officials. Albu was traveling alone, according to the San Juan County Sheriff's Office.

Park rangers located Albu's vehicle Tuesday afternoon and found his body just before dark after searching trails near the steep cliffs, according to a statement from the sheriff's office. There were no reported witnesses to the fall.

"No foul play is suspected. It appears that the fall was an accident," the sheriff's office said.

Because of the rugged terrain where the body was located, it was not recovered until midday Wednesday.
