The Utah Valley University men's basketball team travels to Phoenix, Arizona, to take on Western Athletic Conference foe Grand Canyon on Saturday night at GCU Arena. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. MT.

Grand Canyon (14-11, 5-3) enters Saturday's game as winners of three out of its last four contests under head coach Dan Majerle. The Antelopes won a pair of WAC road games last week, defeating Seattle U, 66-64, before downing Bakersfield, 78-76. The 'Lopes are in a tie with Missouri-Kansas City for second place in the league standings with a 5-3 WAC record. GCU holds WAC wins over Missouri-Kansas City, Bakersfield and UVU.

DeWayne Russell leads Grand Canyon in scoring at 16.0 points per game, while Joshua Braun also averages double figures at 11.6 points a contest. Bruan also fronts the team in rebounds per game at 4.9. The 'Lopes are averaging 68.3 points per game, while allowing opponents to a 68.4 average.

"Grand Canyon has multiple offensive weapons," Utah Valley head coach Dick Hunsaker said. "They have a balanced scoring attack. Coach Majerle does a great job at creating matchup issues."

The Wolverines enter Saturday's matchup with a 9-14 overall record. The team is 3-5 in WAC play with wins over Seattle U, Texas-Pan American and Chicago State. Utah Valley is 3-10 on the road this season.

UVU most recently defeated Saint Katherine College, 77-55, at home Monday night. Zach Nelson led four players in double figures with a game-high 17 points in the win over the Firebirds. Utah Valley shot an impressive 55.2 percent from the field with six made threes. The Wolverines held Saint Katherine to a 31.3 percent clip. UVU out-rebounded the Firebirds, 50-27. Nelson scored his 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field, including a 1-of-3 mark from long range. He also knocked down 2-of-4 shots at the free-throw line. He tied a season high with four blocks, pulled down five rebounds and registered two assists and a steal. Marcel Davis tallied 14 points in the win. He was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field, including a perfect 1-of-1 from beyond the arc. Davis tied a career high with eight assists to go along with six rebounds. Mitch Bruneel added 12 points in the win, connecting on 6-of-11 shots.
