USU gymnastics: Sarah Landes named Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Gymnast of the Week

Utah State senior gymnast Sarah Landes was named the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Gymnast of the Week for the fourth week of competition, it was announced by the conference office Sunday.

It is the first conference weekly award in her career.

"I'm very happy to have Sarah represent Utah State as our first MRGC Gymnast of the Week," USU head coach Nadalie Walsh said. "This is the highest honor a gymnast can earn in our new conference, and she definitely deserves it. Sarah works hard and is passionate about the sport, and even more so, about the program. We wouldn't be where we are as a team without all her contributions."

Landes earned her first MRGC Gymnast of the Week title after leading Utah State with a season-high 39.225 in the all-around and capturing the individual title. Landes recorded runner-up finishes on vault (9.850) and floor (9.800), while also tying for third on bars (9.800) and tying for seventh on beam (9.775) as the Aggies finished second as a team to Boise State, 195.975-194.275.

The Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference is one of only two NCAA Division I gymnastics-only conferences in the nation and is made up of member institutions Boise State University, Brigham Young University, the University of Denver, Southern Utah University and Utah State University.
