PLEASANT GROVE 66, ALTA 44: Riley Court scored 27 points and added 13 rebounds as Pleasant Grove pulled away from Alta with an 18-2 run in the second quarter to advance to the 5A quarterfinals. Brody Childs added 10 points and seven points for the Vikings, who limited Alta to 26 percent shooting from the field.

DAVIS 58, GRANGER 30: Davis defense limited Granger to just 19 percent shooting, and only 11 percent from 3-point range, in a resounding victory in the opening round of the state tournament. Offensively, Jesse Wade was sensational with 32 points, six rebounds and three assists on 11 of 17 shooting.

HUNTER 53, WEBER 46: Noah Togiai scored 22 points and added seven rebounds as Hunter overcame a 12-point deficit with 6:37 remaining in the fourth quarter to avoid the 5A first-round upset. McKay Meidlinger added 14 points or the Wolverines, while Grant Ellison led Weber with 20 points.

BRIGHTON 60, AMERICAN FORK 44: Brighton shot a scintillating 58 percent fro the field, while Brock Miller leading the way with 24 points as Brighton rolled past American Fork in the 5A first round. John Gremillion added 14 points for the Bengals, with Osa Masina chipping in with 11 points and six rebounds. Brighton built a double-digit lead early in the second quarter and it never dipped to single digits the rest o the game.

VIEWMONT 70, TAYLORSVILLE 44: Austin Johnson scored 23 points and added seven points as Viewmont overwhelmed Taylorsville throughout the 5A first round game at Weber State. The Vikings led 38-17 at the half and by as many as 35 points midway through the fourth quarter. Jake Walker added 11 points for Viewmont, while Jameson Tonge leading Taylorsville with 19 points.

LONE PEAK 99, COPPER HILLS 74: Lone Peak made 12-of-22 3-pointers en route to a resounding victory over Copper Hills in the 5A first round. Frank Jackson made five 3-pointers to lead all scorers with 32 points, and the Knights came up one point shy of the century mark. Nick Curtis added 27 for Lone Peak, while Porter Hawkins led Copper Hills with 28 points and seven rebounds.

BINGHAM 65, RIVERTON 58: Kyle Gearig, Mike Green, Jared Holman and Josh Newbold all scored in double figures as Bingham held off a late rally by Riverton for the victory in the opening round of the 5A tourney. Bingham led by 16 late in the third quarter, but Riverton cut it to four points with 24 seconds remaining. Bingham enjoyed a huge edge on the rim with a 42-24 rebounding edge.

LAYTON 61, HILLCREST 54: Julian Blackmon scored 19 points and Jarriesse Blackmon added 16 points and 12 rebounds as Layton closed the game on an 11-0 run to rally past Hillcrest for the 5A first round win. Underdog Hillcrest kept things tight all, led by Eli Walchs 12 points and 11 from Stockton Ashby.


PROVIDENCE HALL 75, PINNACLE 46: Dallin Mortensen and Alex Kingdon combined for 33 points and six treys for Providence Hall.
