Junior Cassandra Lesa fired a 3-over-par 75 during Friday's opening round at Northern Arizona's Red Rocks Invitational to lead Utah Valley University after 18 holes of play at the Oakcreek Country Club in Sedona.

Lesa finds herself in a tie for 18th place after recording the solid 75.

Senior Hannah Herman is next for the Wolverines after putting up a 7-over-par 79 on Friday. Herman birdied her final hole of the day to enter her into a tie for 58th place.

Senior Heather Mathison and sophomores Kimberly Nyhus and Monica Yeates round out Utah Valley's field of five as they sit in 86th, 104th and 110th places, respectively, after carding scores of 82, 85 and 86.

As a team, UVU recorded a 321 (+33), which is currently good enough for 17th place out of 20 teams. Despite being in 17th after 18 holes of play, the Wolverines enter Saturday's final round just 10 strokes back of 10th place.

The host Lumberjacks lead the tournament at 12-over par (300). Sacramento State and Cal Poly are one shot back for second place (301), while New Mexico State is in fourth at 14-over par (302).

Grand Canyon's Charlotte Jaengkit is the individual leader after carding a 3-under 69 on Friday.

The Red Rocks Invitational concludes Saturday. Saturday's final round gets underway with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. MT.

Following this weekend's tournament, UVU heads to St. George, Utah, for the SUU Invitational on March 12-13, and the BYU at Entrada Classic on March 16-17.
