Duties of the job

Former Salt Lake City police officer Eric Moutsos believes he should "be able to think and talk and be who I am, wherever I'm at." When you accept employment, particularly in public service, you also accept the duties of the job. Everyone has to take on tasks that they may not be personally enthused about.

As a child-welfare worker I had to work with sex abusers, addicts and polygamists. As a cancer-clinic scheduler for Huntsman Cancer Institute I had to schedule medical appointments for convicted killers and rapists in custody at the prison. Doing my job did not mean I was advocating their behaviors. Mr. Moutsos needs to know that performing paid duties in a parade was his job.
