USU track: Utah State heads to Idaho for the Jacksons Invite

Utah State's men's and women's track and field teams compete at the Boise State University hosted Jacksons Invitational in Nampa, Idaho, at Jacksons Indoor Track at the Idaho Center on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6 and 7.

This will be trip three of four to Nampa for the Aggies, as they will make their return at the Boise State Team Challenge on Saturday, Feb. 14.

Utah State will compete against 10 men's teams and 10 women's teams, including Boise State, College of Idaho, Eastern Oregon, Idaho State, Northwest Nazarene, San Francisco State, Treasure Valley CC, Warner Pacific and Weber State.

The first day of events begins at 3 p.m. on Friday with the men's weight throw, followed by the women's pole vault. Friday's events conclude at 4:50 p.m., with the men's and women's distance medley relay. Saturday kicks off at 10:25 a.m., with the men's and women's 60m dash, while the meet is set to conclude at 4:10 p.m., with the men's and women's 4x400m relay.

Utah State is coming off some strong performances against a very competitive field of athletes at the New Mexico Team Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico, last weekend. Senior Sam Nielson led the charge by winning the triple jump for the third-straight meet with a school record jump of 12.85m. Nielson's school record mark currently leads the Mountain West and ranks 13th nationally. Additionally, Nielson was named the Mountain West Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
